Common Valerian, chopped 500 g
Scientific name: Radix valerianae
Valerian, Latin "Radix Valerianae dead", "Radix Valerianae concis"; where Valere means something like being strong or healthy, belongs to the honeysuckle family.
Up to about 300 species are widespread, especially in Europe and Asia, but also on the American continent.
Valerian contains alkaloids and is rich in essential oils. The naturally contained terpenes are responsible for the positive properties of Badrian.
The sometimes quite obtrusive smell is caused by the decomposition of these oils during the drying of the root.
Valerian is therefore suitable for horses as a natural supplement in stressful situations.
