Scientific name: Silybum marianum

Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) is of great importance to horses. Supplementary feeding of milk thistle as a cure can detoxify the horse's body. By combining it with other herbs containing bitter substances, the positive properties of milk thistle can be further increased. Artichoke leaves or dandelion are very suitable for this.

Valuable ingredients
The milk thistle brings valuable nutrients that are particularly needed by the stomach, bile and liver. The most valuable ingredient in milk thistle is silymarin. This stimulates the production of bile and thus ensures better breakdown of nutrients. The silymarin is mainly contained in the hard-shelled, shiny black milk thistle fruits.

Fitness feeding: 4 - 6 g per 100 kg body weight and day for 5 - 7 weeks, twice a year

Liver cure, support for shedding: 8 - 10 g per 100 kg body weight and day, for 5 - 7 weeks

Intensive treatment: 15 - 20 g per 100 kg body weight and day for 5 - 7 weeks

The milk thistle flakes can be fed pure or together with the daily concentrated feed.
