Liquorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra) is probably best known for the candy “liquorice” obtained from the liquorice root. The German name “licorice” comes - like the genus name - from the Latin word “glycyrrhiza” back. In fact, the acidic root also contains a lot of glycyrrhizic acid. The exact scientific name of Makana Ground Liquorice Root is Radix Liquiritae pulv., Glycyrrhiza glabra

Acidwood root is best known for the saponins it contains - especially glycyrrhizic acid. Feeding horses the aromatic root can be particularly useful during the cold months.

Since liquorice can also boost hormone production, it can increase fertility in mares. However, pregnant mares should not be given liquorice roots.

Large horses (600 kg body weight) 20 g - 40 g / day. Adjust ponies and small horses accordingly.
