Hardly any other plant can be used in so different ways than Hemp (Cannabis Sativa). For centuries, it has been one of the most important raw materials in the world. Hemp is a versatile plant that can be grown for its fiber, seed, or oil. Hemp has long been one of the most nutritionally valuable oleaginous fruits. It is very rich in unsaturated fatty acids, notably the omega-3, alpha-linoleic acid which just appears in few plants in this high concentration.

Hemp Oil has a nutty and herbal taste, its color ranges between green and brown. Due to the high content of chlorophyll, the oil should be protected from light and stored in a cool place as the chlorophyll could quicken auto-oxidation of oil exposed to light.

Hemp Oil can be used on salads, for the preparation of crudités and cold dishes as well as for steaming vegetables. Because of the highly unsaturated nature of the oil, it’s extremely sensitive to oxidative rancidity under heat. The most important fatty acid is the omega-6, linoleic acid and makes up over 50%.
